DESCRIPTION: DAY CAMP COUNSELOR
Under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator, the Day Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and participating in activities for campers aged 8 to 15 years old. The Day Camp Counselor must follow the safety procedures to ensure the well-being of all campers attending the Day Camp program and all scheduled activities. They must attend Pre-Camp training and orientation sessions (which includes First Aid training) and apply the principles throughout the Day Camp program.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and ensure the safety of campers
- Inform camp coordinator of any issues/ incidents requiring immediate attention.
- Provides liaison between parents and the Camp Coordinator
- Develop positive relationships and maintains a high level of motivation and enthusiasm with the campers
- Ensure that all program areas are clean and safe
- Ensure that any equipment used is correctly stored after every activity
- Complete administrative tasks (i.e.: daily attendance, incident/ accident reports and evaluations)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 17 years old
- High school diploma
- English speaking, however bilingualism is an asset
- Experience working in a camp or similar setting is an asset
- Basic knowledge of basketball
JOB DETAILS:
Seasonal Full-time Contract: June to August (6-8 weeks)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 weeks, 40 hours per weeks
Salary: starting at $17.00/hr
