DESCRIPTION: DAY CAMP COORDINATOR


Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Camp Coordinator is responsible for program planning, managing and executing the day to day operations of the camp. The Camp Coordinator must also, with the support of administrative staff, supervise and evaluate young adult staff members. The Camp Coordinator must follow the safety procedures to ensure the well-being of all campers attending the Day Camp program,  as well as young adult staff members. They must attend Pre-Camp training and orientation sessions (which includes First Aid training) and reinforce the principles throughout the Day Camp program. When possible the Camp coordinator must participate in outings and camp wide activities. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

With the support of the Program Director, the Camp Coordinator will:

  • Provides ongoing direction and feedback (verbal and written) to camp staff in order to support and assist staff with skill and professional development
  • Assists with the co-ordination and facilitation of camp staff training and orientation.
  • Coordinates and directs all facility and location pre-camp set-up and post-camp clean-up/take down.
  • Plan and facilitate weekly team meetings
  • Ensure appropriate staff coverage throughout the day
  • Takes action to deal with incidents, problems, emergencies and parent/caregiver concerns/inquiries when required
  • Interacts with staff, participants, parents/caregivers and other community members to provide program information
  • Inform the Program Director or Administration of any issues/ incidents requiring immediate attention.
  • Complete administrative tasks (i.e.: review any incident/accident reports, complete staff evaluations and end of summer report)

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • High school diploma
    • Post-secondary education in recreation or related field, or related technical training would be an asset. (at least 1 year of CEGEP is an asset)
    • Bilingual in English/French (other language is an asset)
    • Experience in camp management and/or related roles
    • Experience supervising a team
    • Basic knowledge of basketball and other sports
    • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an asset

      JOB DETAILS:

      Seasonal Full-time Contract: June to August (6-8 weeks)

      Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 weeks, 40 hours per weeks

      Salary: starting at $21.00/hr
